“The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:28-29).
God has used women to accomplish His purpose throughout the history of man. It was a woman who gave birth to our Savior. It was a woman who proclaimed a young Jesus the Messiah. It was women who cried at the feet of Jesus as he hung on the cross. And, it was women who first saw the resurrected Christ.
The story of the woman at the well stands as a dynamic testimony of how God uses women to accomplish His purpose.

A Woman of Great Faith
“Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” (Matthew 15:28)
Have you ever had someone completely ignore you? They disregarded your phone calls, your text messages, or your emails. In other words, they gave you the cold shoulder. It is very frustrating … isn’t it? Well, what if that someone was God?
Our Scripture today comes from Matthew 15:21-28. Over the course of several days Jesus had healed, fed, and ministered to a multitude of people. Now he is tired, so he travels with his disciples to the coast for some rest. It was to be a vacation of sorts … an opportunity for him and his disciples to meditate and recharge their batteries.

The Cost of Discipleship
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
In my last posting we learned about “counting the cost” of being a disciple of Jesus Christ. We learned from the book of Acts about the man named Stephen. We found that he had the courage to stand up for his belief in Jesus … even at the cost of his own life.
This week we will learn more about counting the cost … specifically about what Jesus said about the cost of discipleship.

Counting The Cost
“And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” (Acts 7:59-60)
We live in a nation where we count the cost of everything. We turn on the news and hear about the rising cost of gasoline. We go to the grocery store and experience the rising cost of food. When planning a vacation we have to decide where we can afford to go. Our time is even converted to dollars and cents.
Counting the cost --- we know what that statement means in relation to our secular world, but what does it mean in relation to our Christian walk?

Welcome to Marking The Path!
You are reading the first posting of Marking The Path!
The title of this blog was inspired by Matthew 7:14, "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
My goal for this new ministry is to "mark" the way on the narrow path, so that others may find their way.
I pray that God blesses this endeavor, and that I am able to accomplish this goal.
