Testimony Service

"But santify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear ..." (1 Peter 3:15)

I don't know if any of you have ever witnessed or participated in a testimony service.  For those who do not know what a testimony service is, it is typically a special service where people have the opportunity to share with the congregation how good God has been to them ... how God blessed them ... helped them ... healed them ... saved them ...
There is power in a person's testimony.  The Christian faith was spead worldwide through the testimony of men and women who believed in Jesus and wanted to share their love and knowledge of Him with others.

It is too bad that many churches today have stopped having testimony service.  The leaders of some churches claim that members complain about the same old people getting up and giving their testimony.  Other churches have stopped having testimony service because some people get up and talk on and on about whatever is on their mind.  Then there are those churches that have cut out testimony service so they can have more music or so members can get out of church earlier.

I believed that giving one's testimony plays an important role in uplifting and encouraging believers and non-belivers alike.  The Apostle Peter certainly felt that way, as he told us to "santify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you ..." (1 Peter 3:15).

It is one thing to hear the preacher talk about the goodness of Jesus, but when one of the congregation members has the courage to stand up and provide a tearful explanation about what God did for them ... well who is not moved or inspired?

That is why I am starting a new blog geared specifically for the believer who would like to share their testimony with others.  The new blog is titled, "What God Did For Me!"  You can get to the blog through my profile page, or through the following web address:

Take the time to share your testimony.  It can be as short as a one-line sentence, or a couple paragraphs long.  The goal is to share what God has done in your life.  What a wonderful way to share your faith with others.  You may also find yourself encouraged by someone else's testimony.

May God bless you as you share what God has done for you!
